Davidson Heads Home Late Winner

3 months ago By Dean Allchin

Adam Davidson headed home seven minutes from time to seal a 2-1 victory over Crawley Down Gatwick

The United skipper, who has now scored in six of the last seven home fixtures, found space between two visiting defenders to power home an inch perfect corner from Max Hollobone to seal a victory that saw United return to fifth place in the SCFL Premier Division.
United welcomed back the experienced quartet of Davidson, Shaun Lee, Peter Featherstone and Liam Baitup to face the RUR Cup finalists, whilst Ryan Paul retained his place in defence after impressing last Saturday at Chichester City.
It took just over a third of the game to find the first chance but then two came along in the space of a minute.
Firstly, Baitup saw an effort cleared off the line before Ollie Sotoyinbo broke into the area and drilled a low cross that was met by Steve Dallaway to give United the lead.
Crawley pulled level in the second half as Michael Belli headed home, despite Shaun Lee lying prone on the floor with a facial injury that subsequently saw the defender substituted after losing two teeth.
The game looked to be heading for a draw until Davidson popped up to secure an imprtant three points
