Lucas is The Mann to Down Crawley

3 weeks ago By Dean Allchin

Lucas Mann struck an 88th minute winner as Eastbourne United AFC overcame Crawley Down Gatwick 2-1

The strike was Mann's first since returning to the club and proved to be decisive in securing
a first home victory of the season.
A largely uneventful first half sprung into life with five minutes remaining when a long goal
kick from Phil Hawkins was missed by Crawley right back Russell Dalton, which was
capitalised on by Ollie Sotoyinbo as he powered forward and crossed for Peter Cooper to
score at the near post, despite the visiting 'keeper getting a hand to his effort
The lead would only last three minutes though as the United defence failed to clear the ball
any significant distance before it fell to the feet of Dan Sullivan as he fired across Hawkins
from 12 yards out.
United laboured under the Bank Holiday sunshine, but got the crucial goal two minutes from
time as Sotoyinbo was again the provider as he surged past Dalton and crossed low into the
box for Mann to slide home at the far post and put United back in front.
There was still time however for one more Crawley Down attack as Oli Leslie penetrated the
United defence and found himself one on one with Hawkins, but United's number one
managed to thwart Leslie as he attempted the round him and ensured the three points went United's way
